Limn is a simple static site generator. A static site generator is a tool that converts an easy to write representation of a website's layout and contents into a complete website, ready to be served by your web server.

Building sites with Limn is very simple; The layout of the site on the filesystem before being processed is very similar to how the fully rendered site will be. Limn just reads the folder, converting markdown files into HTML using user-defined Go Templates, copying everything else directly from the source to the destination folder. It then runs any scripts you have configured to run on files by their filetype, and your site is ready to be served!

Limn is essentially a home grown version of Hugo, a much faster, feature rich, and more stable SSG taking advantage of Go's awesome standard library. Limn will never be as fast, stable, or feature rich as Hugo or any other mainstream SSG, but I think that their is a lot of value in building your own sometimes. You end up with something that works exactly the way you need it to (or at least close enough), and learn new stuff along the way.
